A Smile At Christmas Time

As we go about our life we can often and very quickly become absorbed in the hustle and bustle – particularly as we get closer to Christmas time, focused on our own world – this isn’t a bad thing, but it does prevent us from being open to the outside world – and possibly missing an opportunity to spread a little light.

A simple smile can be received as a gesture of light and love, smiles spread – and amazingly can actually lift someone out of a low mood. Try it… I believe a high percentage of people will smile back if you offer them one…

It isn’t about being a hero all the time and feeling responsible for the world, but about recognising how easy it can be to share a little happiness. Imagine being on your own in the world – as many people are, you have little contact with people and as you head out into the world a stranger offers a warm smile, and in that moment they are connected to another person! A flush of warmth will run over  – this flush can continue to last throughout the day and also allow that person to have the capacity to spread that smile further.

Let’s get smiling this Christmas and spread some light!

“A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.
It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.

A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.
No one is so rich, or so mighty, that they can get a long without a smile.

And no one is so poor that they cannot be made richer by a smile.
A smile creates happiness in the home,
fosters goodwill in business and is the counter sign of friendship.

A smile brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged,
sunshine to the
sad and is nature’s best cure for trouble
Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed,
or stolen for it is of no value to anyone until it is given away.

Some people are too tired to give a smile so give them one of yours
as no one needs a smile so much as he who has no more of his own to give.”
